HORROR: THE MUSICAL! LOVE MUSIC? LOVE HORROR? If you answered yes to both of those then you might enjoy this section as it highlights the combination of the melodic and the macabre. There's a wide variety of musical horrors stretching back to the early days of musical theatre, and as times and technology have changed the horror musical has kept up with those changes and still thrills audiences even though there's a vast amount of other entertainment to distract people. If you have never considered horror musicals to be a genuine part of horror, and have never seen any, then you may want to give one a try sometime, and no, it's not all Rocky Horror Show, or Phantom of the Opera. There's a lot of variety ranging from opera (Repo! The Genetic Opera is a great example of gruesome and violent opera), to funny and grisly rock (for example 'Suck' is a fun movie about a vampiric rock band). There will be certain productions on the list which are not all-out with the horror but they will contain clear horror elements, similarly there will be productions not normally known to be musicals but have had a musical adaptation or element, such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
